Fan of Yesterdays or Todays Music?

As we enter the year 2010, we have seen the obvious change on what music is and what it used to be. So many singles and calloborations that you can’t seem to know who’s song it actually belongs to, or on who’s album it might show up. Speaking of albums before you brought albums, now you just down load them, most of the for free from some internet site. Downloading has hurt the music industries way to monitor who’s seeling what (soundscan), chart ratings (billboards) and above all mnies such as royalty. Its a double edge sword, on one hand if your on a budget and are a upcoming artist you can “leak” your own music into the web and quickly grow a fan base without ever performing on a stage. This causes alot of artist to self manage and create more independent lables. The other side of it is for the already known artist, it takes double the effort to go platinum (selling 1 million copies -albums) and earning that prestigious platinum plaque. At the end of the day, it seems that its as easy as just having great music that might not last around for the next 10 years, but for the next 10 minutes. On a weekly basis, new hits come about and the process of winning an award can be as simple as a voting process. I wonder if we have traded quantity over quality, whether Michael Jackon,Madonna,Stevie B, Lil Wayne, Drake or Beyonce only time will tell.

I think you have made some interesting points.
And like most things in life.. all good things must come to an end.
frankly will any new and up coming artist reach the level of success as any of our past and influential icons have.. its possible. but will they last ten years from now when our kids are looking back to see what was “good music”.. makes sence in my twisted mind. but thats just a quick side note..
i do feel that like most things its about $$ . once the artist “makes it” its seems like they lost sight of who they were ten yrs or 15 yrs prior to being where they currently at. and just shitty music. with possibly a good beat to piggy back the song.. and making that.. really the club anthem. ..
quality or quantity…… is most def’ a dbbl sword.. depends the lable. depends the person and their drive.. over all. im not impressed with most of the music thats out .. id be a liar if i said i dont listen to it or dance to it but im not rushing anywhere to buy the cd , download it or get the 5 for 20 bootlegs……
