Capicu Poetry and Culture Event

2010's first installment of the Capicu Culture Showcase was held Friday, February 5, 2010 at Notice Lounge & Cafe in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York. The organizers were Papo Swiggity Santiago and George "Urban Jibaro" Torres.
The featured Poet of the night was Hebrew Mamita. Actress/Solo Performer/ Writer/ Director. She has aired three times on “Russell Simmon's Def Poetry Jam" on HBO, and is featured in the film “The Tribe” which was selected for the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, 2006 Tribeca Film Festival in NYC, and for the 2007 Jewish Motifs International Film Festival in Warsaw, Poland, where Vanessa attended as the film’s representative. She has been featured in The New York Post, Time Out New York, The Jewish Week, Spitkickers, The Forward, URB , BUST, Beyond Race,The Los Angeles Times, The Jerusalem Post, Time Out NY, and Lilith Magazine.
Featured Visual Artist: Ana Marie "La Barbilona" Martell. Ana Martell's body work consists mostly of mixed media on canvas. The themes in both of her poetry and artwork are deeply rooted expressions of the latin american female experience. She began performing and exhibiting her work throughout the tri-state area in 2008.
